- Confirm your budget. It’s also a good idea to have your mortgage in principal drawn up before you put an offer in.
- Reserve your plot – bring along any relevant documentation that might help to speed up the process. This includes legal documents in relation to a property you are selling, your passport and solicitors’ details.
- Be prepared to dedicate some time after viewing to filling in any paperwork. This will help to speed the process and will also avoid you losing out on your desired house to another buyer.
- Apply for your mortgage within 48 hours of reserving your plot.
- The appointment to sign will be the stage when your deposit will be required. To prevent any delays, it is important to ensure your funds can be electronically transferred rather than paying by a personal cheque which can take in excess of five working days to clear.
